Photos from the trip

This is the first time i wore flippers for snorkelling. I just realised that i wasn't equip with that during my phuket trip 2 years back. No wonder a caucasian woman was stung by a sea urchin then. *shudders*.

Me and mom.

Mangrove. I saw a water lizard somewhere (as pointed out by the boatman)

I think my pink dress looks so chic here. I refused to wear it at first:) oh well..

Into the crocodile cave

@ the fish camp(or smth).
I was holding some incredulously
odd-looking terrapin-alike-but-with-a-long-sharp-tail-and-can-be-eaten.

dad trying to lure the archer fish up.
The archer fish is a smart specie. They can shoot down the bread stuck on the wooden pillar using water from their mouth.

Bats hanging inside the bat cave. zzZ

I just couldn't bear to bade farewell to any of the beach we visited there. They were awesome beyond what words can express (though phuket and dubai have more breathtaking ones)

The Black Sand beach. Special but was heavily littered.

@ Durian Perangin waterfall

A rather forceful wry smile. The rock is as slippery as marble, mind you.

Spent Christmas at home this year, felt extremely lethargic after the trip. After more than 12 hours of sleep, I think i can kill a boar. haha.

Wednesday 24 December 2008

I am back from the island of sunshine, trees and erm.. insects!! I love langkawi, eveything there is so closely related to nature ;even the hotel i stayed in is located in the forest, cool isnt it?! I adore the crystal-clear emerald sea but commuting on the speedboat and the ferry(i think so) for 2 consecutive days had induced giddy spells in me after I reached s'pore (which is kind of lag). haha.

I have loads to say about the hotel.

Day1: Reach langkawi, checked in @ Berjaya Langkawi Beach Resort Hotel. There's something quite unique of the hotel: the lobby is one whole magnificent architecture where the beach is located behind it. The rooms are individual "little houses" that are situated along the route which is inside the forest. Thus, you have to board a shuttle tram (24 hr available) to travel from the lobby to your room which is both cool and inconvenient. haha. Speaking of the hotel, the service offered isnt quite 5- star standard. It was quite appalling to see that they dont offer toothbrush and toothpaste and the staff explained that you have to request for them personally! That's not the end to the toiletries nightmare- when the TB and TP were delivered to our room, the TP was as hard as a rock ( I think it expired) and couldnt be squeezed out at all! How gross can this get. However, the staff there are really very very friendly and warm to the tourists. They would grin and exchange pleasantries with us whenever they saw us and the shuttle tram service was very efficient with the tram arriving within 5 mins after you called the counter.
After settling down, we went ahead to arrange our schedule with the pleasant help from the hotel staff. We managed to book a taxi with its driver Mr Baga to send us around the island for our trips except for day 2 where we went snorkelling. Dinner was taken at a seafood restaurant @ cenang beach. The seafood there was much cheaper than in S'pore so we ordered heartily:)

Day 2: Board the ferry and went to the deep sea area for snorkelling. The coral aint as beautiful as those in the sea of phuket, they were of dull colours and cauliflower look-alike. The fish species were sort of limited too but i spotted some really weird creatures near the reeves so it was still quite interesting. Dinner was @ cenang beach there again! haha. Shop around the region but couldnt find anything desirable.

Day3: I went to the Durian ____ waterfall (cant rmb the middle word, haha), the Black Sand Beach and toured around the mangrove on a speedboat, visiting the Bat cave, the crocodile cave (which has no crocs), the Fish farm (where you get to touch the various species e.g. stingray) and the Eagle Cove. The waterfall is a small one and we had to climb up the mountain/hill slightly to reach it. The water there was freezing cold and i slipped and fell down, haha. Lunch was taken at some shopping centre where i bought 2 pretty panama hats.

Bought a nike bag at changi airport. I wish for...

2nd post of the day

I adore Christmas decorations:) They create the ambience for celebrations.

Lobster soup

No idea what was that. Italian is a Greek language.

Smoked salmon, easily identified by smell

Dessert. Again, i am clueless about the names but they tasted like sorbet.

In conclusion, Italian cuisine is not my cup of tea.

@Equinox, SwissĂ´tel The Stamford-- STRONGLY RECOMMENDED!!

They offer lunch buffet and dinner a la carte.

You can enjoy your meal while admiring the panoramic view outside. Double-win situation

The food is freshly prepared and they do taste heavenly delicious!

The chocolate cottage! Who will bear to eat it??! It's insanely cute!

Main dish 1, eaten by dad

Main dish 2- salmon, eaten by mom and goped by me. (It's good:)

Foie Gras

I-SCRREAAMM

They have a chocolate fondue nearby:)
