I finally realise the starking difference between a person studying independently overseas and a local. Today's dinner was a treat from dad's friend at Ah Yat Abalone and Seafood restaurant (beach road). It was the same uncle who bought us dinner at Allson hotel (ah yat too) the other time. Everything was the same except that my mom came and his son who just came back from canada to serve NS.
His son was simply impressive. The way he brings himself, the way he presents himself to others, one look at him you will know that he will be a capable and successful businessman in future, just like his dad. By the way, his dad owns quite a few companies and he's kind of involved in the casino in the IR. Thus, my mom and dad were saying that he can inherit his dad's business with ease. Though it was the very first time he met us, he didnt show any sign of unease or shyness. He could drink (though not a lot), chat and even went on to sing a few songs inside the suite. His fantastic socialising skills were apparent. It just struck me that none of the people( around his age) i met were that impressive.
Living overseas on your own can really made one learn a lot. These skills are not smth we can gain from textbooks or imitate. However, his dad was saying that his annual cost of living and school fees cost up to S$5-8 million! O.O, so, the fellow beings who hail from middle-income families should be satisfied with local education:)
