Dubai
PART I
Trip to Dubai is simply awesome! A very different experience, a very different culture and a very different sight! I really really learned A LOT.
Even the air stewardess is dressed differently. The ladies wear a veil that covers their side faces and then wrapped around their necks like a scarf. haha. The UAE plane was very very big! Initially i thought i wouldnt survive the 7 hours on plane but it turns out to be fine! watched lots of movies eg Shrek3, Fantastic Four, The Newly Wed, My wife's a witch and HAIRSPRAY! Hairspray and shrek 3 were damn damn good. Rent or buy them now!
Tour guide's called Lacey. She was a Chinese who had stayed in Japan for 3 years and then Dubai for 8 years. She's a passionate and wonderful guide who had tonnes and tonnes of knowledge. Her husband's called Roger, who was a English. Roger said he hated London and he loved to travel a lot (thats the reason he refused to live in England). There were only momma and I in the tour but it turned out to be such a blessing! We get to travel in Lacey's private car, a Honda Civic who was exactly the same as dad's and Roger's fantabulously luxurious MERCEDES when he's not working! They would introduce Dubai's architecture and culture as they drove.
Burj Al Arab, the 7-star hotel was the 1st place we went. A very grand place indeed! BUT wait till you visit the 8-star hotel which i would talk abt ltr! Had lunch there which was SELF-PAID. It was a buffet lunch at one of the restaurants, Al Iwan. The food isnt very great, partly because we werent used to Abrabian food. The lobster was cold and tough and the dessert was too sweet. But the restaurant was glamorously furnished with arabic characteristics. However, the bill was simply, spectacular. A total of 1030 dirrhams, which was S$412. If you are wondering where the 30 dirrhams (S$12) came from, it came from the Evian Mineral Water we ordered. yea right. Acoording to Lacey, she and Roger went for a high-tea in the hotel with some friends and it cost them some 4000 dirrhams. It was just expensive.
Cruise the arabian sea. The night scenary was breathtaking. had a chat with Roger. learned more about England's universities which i am super interested in. Roger's family owned a farm with many many cattle in england. halleluja! learned more of agriculture and stuff when i realised that farms do not need humans to squeeze the udders anymore! they use machines! DISAPPOINTING!! Abrabian food for dinner onboard. *shudders*. haha.
shall type part II tmr.
